Cozy Friedman launches professional hair care for kids.
October 27, 2014
By: Melissa Meisel
With 20 years of experience and one million haircuts under her belt, kids’ hair guru Cozy Friedman brings her New York City salon moxie to moms and children across the US with a new collection, The SoCozy line of style and care products promises to fill a void in the professional hair care sector. “I created SoCozy from the basic need for a proper product line to use in my salons,” Friedman told Happi.com in an interview. “ “Since there was nothing in the market that was safe, performed, and made for the needs of kids, I had no other choice!” Designed to help parents effortlessly manage their children’s hair, SoCozy offers multifunctional formulas with a cool urban flare made just for kids. The Cinch line saves time and makes bathing easy with two-in-one and three-in-one shampoo, conditioner and body wash. To keep tangles at bay, cult favorite Fruity-tutti scented Detangler + Leave in Conditioner makes brushing a “cinch.” Kids can express individuality through style with the delectably fragranced Behave line of styling mousse, cream, and gel to define curls, create volume and calm frizz. And, to prevent and treat the most dreaded children’s hair issue—lice—the Boo! collection harnesses a proprietary natural formula including tea tree oil as an effective lice repellant, in a fresh peppermint, lavender scented Lice Prevention Shampoo and Spray. According to Friedman, SoCozy is different in a few important ways. “First, our products are free of ‘nasties’—no parabens, sulfates, propylene glycol, dyes, wheat, gluten or nuts—which means they are non-toxic. They have been created by the expert hair team at my salons, Cozy's Cuts For Kids, and then tested by real moms, kids and stylists to be sure that everyone loves them,” said Friedman. “Lastly, the fragrances are amazing, scents that both kids and moms like such as Guav-a-rama, Pear-fection and Mango go, just to mention a few.” SoCozy business partner Scott Gurfein, who also owns skin care line Freeze 24-7, agreed more was needed for kids in the salon segment. “There was an incredible opportunity to add definition to the kids’ personal care category which has been largely disregarded, leaving parents few options to care for their children's hair. As such, we see a rare opportunity to establish a leadership position in the global hair care market and win the trust of moms, one of the most uniquely influential demographic segments on the planet.” SoCozy products are out now at beauty and personal care emporiums like C.O. Bigelow Apothecaries, Soap.com and Follica.com; premium salons such as Pierre Michel; as well as go-to children’s shopping destinations including giggle, and many more—with intentions to branch out in 2015. According to Friedman, “Our plans include future product and category extensions, the expansion of our education and marketing programs targeted to moms and the trade, and the growth of our brand in the global marketplace with key retail partners.” More info: www.socozy.com
